Faster internet soon? No more Comcast?? PLEASE?!?!?!??
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

I've been on the "debbie downer" train the past few days on some of the bigger companies and their unwillingness to move forward faster.  But I got to say, I love what Google continues to do.  Check out this article about the new Google Fiber.  1 Gigabit per second!!!!  CRAZY FAST!!!   Maybe it will come to Nashville soon so we can oust Comcast and their ridiculous prices for basic internet!

Cheers.

The iPad gone wild!!
Monday, April 5th, 2010

People are going crazy over the new iPad that was just released.  Let me get this right, I can pay $600-$800 for something that does less, goes slower, and stores less than my laptop?  And it doesn't fit in my pocket like my iPhone or Blackberry or Droid?  Hmmmmmmmm…… I don't know.  Let me think on that for a minute.

I'm not saying this is a usual ploy by Apple…….oh wait, yes I am.  Hype, hype, hype!!!!  Let down, let down let down.  I had this same feeling when I first got my iPhone.  AWESOME touch screen and apps and all the cool stuff.   What?  What's that you say?  I can't send pictures through text?   Huh?  I can't do video?   What do you mean I have to wait til the next phone to be able to do that?   Why did I pay $400 to get a phone that can't do what my old LG phone that cost me $50 bucks can?

It's all in the details folks.  They give us a new device with great bells and whistles but missing basic stuff so that we have to buy that same device again a year from now.   That's the case with the new iPad.  Awesome concept, falls short in delivery.  Apple had a chance to make the worlds first tablet that was completely functional as a laptop is but they chose to let us down again.  I give them credit that it is better than the Kindle, but not by the vast amount that it could have been.  Where's the James Cameron's Avatar move by Apple?   The make everything else look like child's play device?  I guess we will have to continue to wait til Google gets into the tablet business to see a real push towards the front edge of technology capabilities.

With all that said, I'm not down on the iPad.  It's functional and useful for it's purpose and I recommend it over the Kindle at this point.  But I would also say wait six months to a year and get the next version cause it will have all the little things that Apple leaves off the first go round.

Below is a link to CNN tech page on the 12 things you need to know about the iPad.  Read through and decide for yourself.  Enjoy the beautiful weather Nashville!!

Cheers.
